Publication Ethics and Malpractice Policy
Critical Dialectics is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, fairness, and responsible publishing. Authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher are expected to follow ethical standards throughout the submission, review, and publication process.
The journal follows recognised principles of responsible academic publishing and expects all parties to act honestly, fairly, and professionally.
1. Duties of the Editors
Fair and Independent Evaluation
Editors evaluate manuscripts on the basis of their scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and contribution to the field. Decisions are not influenced by an author’s race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, political views, or other personal characteristics.
Confidentiality
Editors must keep submitted manuscripts and related editorial communications confidential. Information about a submission is shared only with individuals directly involved in the editorial and review process.
Conflicts of Interest
Editors must disclose and appropriately manage any personal, professional, financial, or academic conflict of interest that could affect their editorial decisions.
Publication Decisions
The editorial team is responsible for making publication decisions based on the journal’s scope, editorial standards, peer-review reports, and applicable ethical and legal requirements.
2. Duties of Peer Reviewers
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers must not share, copy, discuss, or use unpublished material from a manuscript without permission.
Objectivity
Reviews should be fair, respectful, and constructive. Reviewers should provide clear reasons for their comments and recommendations.
Promptness
Reviewers who do not have the appropriate expertise or cannot complete a review within the requested time should inform the editor promptly.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited and inform the editor of significant similarities between the submitted manuscript and other known publications.
Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers should decline an assignment if they have a personal, professional, competitive, collaborative, or other relationship that could affect their impartiality.
3. Duties of Authors
Originality
Authors must submit original work and properly acknowledge the ideas, arguments, texts, and sources of others. Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct are not acceptable.
Exclusive Submission
A manuscript submitted to Critical Dialectics should not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Authors should not submit substantially the same work to multiple journals.
Accuracy and Integrity
Authors must present their arguments, evidence, sources, and research findings accurately. Any significant limitations or relevant information should be stated honestly.
Proper Citation
All sources that have substantially influenced the work should be appropriately acknowledged and cited.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, development, analysis, or interpretation of the work.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible co-authors are included, that no inappropriate authorship is claimed, and that all co-authors have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet the requirements for authorship may be acknowledged separately.
Conflicts of Interest and Funding
Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and any financial or institutional support that may have influenced the research or its interpretation.
Use of Generative AI
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools where such tools have been used in preparing or developing the manuscript. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their submission.
4. Errors in Published Articles
Authors should promptly inform the journal if they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work. Depending on the nature of the error, the journal may publish a correction, clarification, or retraction.
5. Research and Publication Misconduct
Allegations of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, or other forms of academic misconduct will be taken seriously.
Where necessary, the journal may investigate the matter, request clarification or supporting evidence, contact the relevant institution, and take appropriate editorial action. Such action may include rejection, correction, withdrawal, or retraction of a published article.
6. Non-Discrimination
Critical Dialectics is committed to fair and respectful treatment of all authors, reviewers, editors, and contributors. The journal does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics.
7. Preservation and Access
The journal is committed to maintaining the long-term availability of its published research. Published content will be digitally preserved and made accessible to researchers and readers through the journal’s online platform and appropriate archival arrangements.
